ARTIST STATEMENT
Digital print on paper
Each 60 x 80 inches
(2017 - ongoing)
‘Artist Statement’ is an ongoing series of artist statements commissioned from employees at different Creative PR Agencies. Each agency was contacted online, and each text was commissioned solely on the basis of the artist’s existing portfolio.
Each statement is superimposed onto a digital template, depicting the artist’s hand holding a blank sheet of white paper. The template is designed with reference to the tradition of trompe l’oeil; this effect - once a demonstration of the artistic skill and painterly technique - is now commonplace within advertising and stock imagery. Subsequently, each composite digital image is printed as a poster, measuring 60 x 80 inches (standard dimensions within the advertising industry). Throughout this process, all subjective and stylistic decisions on the part of the employees – including the typography, grammar, syntax and spelling – were maintained verbatim.
The title of each poster consists of the name of the author, the name of the PR agency, and the date when the statement was written.
